You know that feeling where, if you see one more headline about how all the artists and musicians have fled San Francisco and the city’s dead and we should all just throw in the towel and pack the car for LA right now, you might throw your computer through a window?

Yeah, same here. Luckily, we also have the antidote: an email inbox that fills up every day with new music from an insane number of Bay Area bands and artists, many of whom would probably be offended if you were to suggest that they do not, in fact, exist.

Here’s a handful of our favorite new jams from the local kids.

The Tropics debuted this video for “Sons & Daughters,” which would be impressively cool to look at even if the indie pop five-piece hadn’t created it in 48 hours (with a litlte help from filmmakers Bangers + Mash).

Meanwhile, SF power duo Cathedrals continued their reign of Internet domination by dropping the otherworldly new single, “In the Dark,” and simultaneously advance-streaming their entire debut EP (out Sept. 8) on Spotify.

The 7-person electro-afro-indie-funk-soul-R&B casserole that is The Seshen released the super chilled-out groove “Unravel,” also the title track off their upcoming (Oct. 6) EP with Tru Thoughts.

The city’s favorite crowd-pleasing scuzz-rock trio Terry Malts dropped “Don’t” to tease their new EP Insides, out Sept. 23 on Slumberland.

And longtime Americana duo New American Farmers recruited Chuck Prophet on guitar for this vaguely Donovan-ish/Three Dog Night-esque tune “Aiming for the Daylight,” off their upcoming LP The Farmacology Sessions, which they’ll release with a show at the Great American Music Hall this Fri/5.

What other local folks are restoring your faith in the SF music scene this week? Drop me a line or a link or a video or an interpretive dance at esilvers@sfbg.com, or @emmaruthless on the Twitter machine.
