The San Francisco Film Society presents the second annual Hong Kong Cinema. This year’s series expands to nine films for Bay Area audiences in a variety of genres including crime thrillers, family dramas and over-the-top romances, and features HK superstars Andy Lau, Tony Leung and Louis Koo. Among the highlights are opening night’s Love in the Buff, actor-director Derek Yee’s The Great Magician, and LGBT drama Love Me Not, with the director in person!
Also included in this year’s Hong Kong Cinema is a cinematic retrospective commemorating the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region! Reel back to the years shortly before and after this historic event with Peter Chan’s classic Comrades, Almost a Love Story, Patrick Yau’s thriller The Longest Nite and Fruit Chan’s indie film Made in Hong Kong.
