Check out the Punk Rock Museum, a benefit for the preservation of punk

Pub date June 28, 2012

The Punk Rock Museum is an enormous punk rock preservation undertaking by Taquila Mockingbird – with the intention of pushing the Smithsonian to open a punk rock annex (!) – and was originally conceptualized for its Los Angeles location. Its doors have been open for barely four months now, and has already brought a new vitality to the punk rock scene as well as a renewed interest in preserving punk culture through original art, flyer art, photography, and, of course, music.

The museum is dedicated to Darby Crash of the Germs, who asked Taquila before he died to keep punk alive. (She tells the story in the video below this post.)

The museum is now making its way to the Bay with a mix of new works and pieces from the permanent collection. Come out and enjoy an evening of art and music to benefit the museum and help commemorate a very important period in modern art and culture.
