We don’t want to drag all this us vs. them stuff up again — especially since, like, we won — but something uncanny has occurred. Village Voice Media honcho/bully Mike Lacey has been in some mighty hot water since he chose to use the “n-word” in a speech to a roomful of journalists on the anniversary of Martin Luther King’s assassination. Perhaps worst of all, he was trying to be cool.
That immediately put us in mind of a similar gaffe by former Cincinnati Reds owner Marge Schott, one which lead to her eventual downfall. So, like the Internet-savvy alt.weekly we are, we dialed up the Intertubez — and look!
