The delicious Mission home-cookin’ hotbed — located mere steps from the 500 Club at 17th St and Guerrero; Clare’s will deliver your food to the bar! — serves up the kind of food that induces daydreams (and daytime-drinking dreams), including “The Grinder,” a flawless meatball-sandwich specimen. (Goes great with a 500 Club vodka tonic.) Clare’s is open seven days a week, 11 a.m.-11 p.m., which means you can cure your hangover with some tater tots in the morning, then fill your gut later that same day with a happy hour bologna and cheese. Hell, you might even check back late-night; sometimes they have bacon-infused cookies and cupcakes for dessert. The helpful website lists all the important info, but to really keep your greasy finger on the pulse, follow Clare’s for tweet updates. That way, you’ll always be in the loop when crispy tacos or a traditional Thanksgiving feast (good year ’round!) appear on the specials board.
